American Football

American Football is a team sport played primarily in the United States, characterized by two teams of eleven players each competing to score points by advancing the ball into the opposing team’s end zone. The game is played on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. Players can advance the ball by either running with it or passing it to teammates. The offense (the team with the ball) has four attempts, called downs, to move the ball at least ten yards. If they succeed, they receive a new set of downs; if they fail, possession of the ball is turned over to the defense (the opposing team). Scoring can occur through touchdowns, field goals, or safeties. The sport is governed by a set of rules and is known for its strategic complexities, physical contact, and significant fan following. American Football is notably popular at both amateur and professional levels, with the National Football League (NFL) being the premier professional league in the United States.
