The continent is characterized by a diverse geography that includes the Andes mountain range, the Amazon rainforest, extensive plains, and numerous rivers, including the Amazon River, one of the longest rivers in the world.

South America is known for its rich cultural diversity, with a mix of indigenous, European, African, and Asian influences. It comprises twelve independent countries, including Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile, as well as several territories. The continent has a variety of ecosystems and climates, ranging from tropical rainforests to arid deserts.
