Disaster Management

Disaster Management refers to the processes and strategies implemented to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the impacts of disasters. It encompasses a range of activities aimed at reducing vulnerability and ensuring effective response to natural or man-made hazards, such as earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, terrorist attacks, or industrial accidents. The primary goal of disaster management is to minimize loss of life, property damage, and societal disruption. This involves planning and coordination among various stakeholders, including government agencies, emergency services, non-governmental organizations, and communities. Disaster management typically includes four key phases: preparedness (developing plans and training), response (immediate actions taken during and after a disaster), recovery (restoring affected areas and supporting affected individuals), and mitigation (implementing measures to reduce future risks). Overall, disaster management seeks to create resilient communities capable of effectively dealing with emergencies.
